Access

By car

Lefkada is the only island accessible by car, without ferry boat.

It is connected to the mainland by a floating bridge for a constant flow of vehicle traffic and is also a swinging bridge for the boat traffic.

The Rion-Antirion suspension bridge, as well as the Aktion tunnel under the sea make access to the island much easier.

Likewise, the new road Egnatia Odos Motorway links the western port of Igoumenitsa making the journey from Northern Greece and Thessaloniki faster and easier. The Ionian Odos Motorway has reduced the time to and from Athens city and Athens airport Eleutherios Venizelos ATH 3.5 to 4 hours, and has been linked to the Egnatia Odos Motorway.

By plane

Lefkada’s closest airport is near Preveza city ( AKTION / PVK) on the mainland 18 km north. Sky Express connects it with Corfu, Kefallonia, Zakynthos and Sitia (Crete) . Olympic Air flights from Preveza to Athens , with connections throughout Greece. In summer, Easyjet connects Preveza from the UK, as do charter flights from all over Europe.
